Pieces of North Somerset, 2000In 1998 and 1999 the smaller House Group that evolved into Weston Quilters, held small public exhibitions of their work. As well as general quilts, we also set our members a themed category. in 1998 it was The Blues and in 1999 it was Autumn. To mark the new Millennium in 2000 we decided to be more ambitious and mounted a major open exhibition at the Winter Gardens in Weston-Super-Mare. Pieces of North Somerset was a great success. We had over 100 quilts on show, as well as demonstrations, classes and trade stands. We had six competitive categories as well as initiation quilts on display. As well as prizes for each category, the sponsors chose their favourite quilt in the whole show. This was won by Ann Coia for Red in Tooth and Saw, who was presented with a Husqvarna Lily 555 sewing machine donated by Mark Pickles Sewing Machines.
